Sketches

ermm here got two sketches, but same idea, any references? ermm my idea is putting two photos of tornadoes, one is smaller/weaker which recorded the current year(2008) , and another is stronger and bigger and is recorded the year(maybe 2100) and put a question there :"which one do you prefer?" with big font size and below will write "you can stop global warming" and put my symbol there.

REFERENCES of the idea
I got the idea of stacking of photos from this, photobucket slide show
and a little reference to this image

FINALLY done!! XD Assignment 2

Yeap, I finally finished my assignment 2 after all the trials and errors to make the tornado.Ok, let's start with showing the progress of making the tornado using Adobe Illustrator. Before I start my trials and errors method to explore adobe illustrator and draw tornado by using it, I would like to introduce the tools first.

First, placed my sketch on the layer as a guide for me to draw my tornado
Created a new layer and used pen tool to draw the tornado without stroke colour
Then, I used mesh tool to make the gradient for the tornado to look more 3D or got volume look
Later, you can either copy a layer of the tornado u drew or draw another layer of the tornado.
The reason I copy another layer of it is to make more details for the tornado by adding lines spiraling around the tornado. How? The second layer of the tornado was added scribble effect. Choose Effect> Stylize> Scribble.
Now, here is where you can adjust how the tornado lines you want it to be.
Next, to add more details, I used elipse tool which is under the rectangle tool, you can find it in there by double click the rectangle tool. Then, I changed its brush type of the line to "watercolour stroke 2" which can be found in Brush Library> Artistic> Artistic Water Colour. Then, because I want to make the circle have the moving effects, so I added "Radial Blur" effect on the circle. Go to Effect> Blur> Radial Blur.
See the difference?
This is an image showing the radial blur settings
Of course, I havent done with the circle, to make it more 3D to look like the circle is spiraling around the tornado, go to Effect> 3D> Rotate...
Then, cut away half of the circle by the scissors tool and multiple it by copy and paste and adjust the sizes of the circles

After that, I created another layer as the background layer to draw the sky and land. And I used Mesh tool again to make the gradient/ the tones for the sky, I pick some colours from the images i found in the net by using the Eyedropper Tool.
OK, this is the part where I start to do trials and errors as I trying to find a way to make real clouds. First, I started with drawing another new layer of cloud with pencil and pen tool & added colours by using mesh tool.
By just drawing that cloud without details is not real enough as I felt, so i tried adding some lines
Testing with different brushes, NOPE, this is not I want yet.

Tried with less curves or lesser turning points line by pen tool.
Look better now.. but this is not the choice I pick in the end.
add more details, same method
same
Hmm, not real enough yet, why don't I try adding Radial Blur Effect?OK

Looks better, then I decided to delete the layer of cloud I drew just now, notice in this screen shot?I have another idea popped out but is more works to do for better outcome with details, so I tried drawing more lines as clouds and change them into different kinds of Artistic Watercolour Brushes.

Add radial blur effect to make the cloud look like spiraling towards the tornado
Draw more lines, you might asking why I don't use the blend tool to blend them? well cause they cant give the more random lines or the lines to curve the way I want. So I draw myself with pen tool.
draw more lines and add more gaussian blur and radial blur effects
Progress

As the more lines are drawn, the messy they are to arrange, so I grouped them separately.
Unsatisfactions are still with me about the clouds, so added thinner lines as the details for the clouds. Then, I tested with different "Artistic_ChalkCharcoalPencil Brushes" to find the right effect.
Testing here and there....

OK, after the cloud, I went back to the Sky background layer and added land on the same layer by rectangle tool. And again, added the tones of colours for the land/ground. Then, I created a new layer to draw the small trees on the land coloured black to show that they covered by the shadows of the dark clouds. Next, on the same layer, drew half oval circle by pen tool and blurred by gaussian blur effect to have the smoke or dust effect spiralling on the ground around the bottom of the tornado.
And also used pencil tool to draw few lines around the tornado and changed the brush type into "Fire_Ash" brush which can be found in "Artistic_Ink" brushes. With this effect, the lines around the tornado will look like objects flying around the tornado. To have the motion effects, add radial blur effect, I picked zoom effects in radial blur settings.
For more details, I added another one half circle at the bottom of the tornado with Watercolour Stroke 3 brush type and was blurrer by gaussian blur effect.
Still lack of flying objects around the tornado, so I added some.
Here is how to add borders or cover the unwanted lines which are out of the picture. I drew a rectangle line without filling colour same size as the picture on a new layer.
Then select the rectangle line with all other layers together and right click them and select "Make clipping mask" which taught by Madam Koo.
So, here it is, the final product of the tornado image for assignment 2! XD

Sketch

did two sketches about tornadoes and hurricane

This one was actually a sketch for assignment 3 which is the poster which I planning to do but i don't know whether i got enough time. This poster shows if we din take actions to stop global warming, the hurricane will become stronger until it destroy our homes, our land and we have to stay underground.
this is the sketch for assignment 2 , I hope I can illustrate it well in adobe illustrator. Wish me luck! >.<

Assignment 2

Sorry for lack of posting new post here recently as I was busy doing other assignments. OK, today I some research about hurricane. And I found out that actually a tornado can be formed in a hurricane, how they form? read here >> link

What is hurricane? hurricane is a tropical cyclone which is a storm system characterized by a low pressure center and numerous thunderstorms that produce strong winds and flooding rain. (source from >> link)

From Wikipedia, there's also stated that hurricane do cause tornadoes and others.
"Tropical cyclones out at sea cause large waves, heavy rain, and high winds, disrupting international shipping and, at times, causing shipwrecks.[74] Tropical cyclones stir up water, leaving a cool wake behind them,[25] which causes the region to be less favourable for subsequent tropical cyclones. On land, strong winds can damage or destroy vehicles, buildings, bridges, and other outside objects, turning loose debris into deadly flying projectiles. The storm surge, or the increase in sea level due to the cyclone, is typically the worst effect from landfalling tropical cyclones, historically resulting in 90% of tropical cyclone deaths.[75] The broad rotation of a landfalling tropical cyclone, and vertical wind shear at its periphery, spawns tornadoes. Tornadoes can also be spawned as a result of eyewall mesovortices, which persist until landfall.[76]"

In conclusion, I guess u all know what I planning to draw as I keep mentioning " tornado" .Yupz, I planning to draw tornado/es for assignment 2.
